Description:
A Foot Brake Valve 802911 is a valve in an air brake system that controls how much air pressure is sent to the brakes when the driver presses the brake pedal.

Part Number: 802911
Condition: New
Manufacture/Brand: Bendix

Fits 802911 For Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, Peterbilt, Kenworth, Western Star, International, other Class 6–8 tractors and vocational trucks

Purpose of using 802911:

1. Control Braking Force

The foot brake valve:

  • Converts pedal movement into controlled air pressure

  • Sends that air to the brake chambers

  • Allows the driver to control how hard the brakes apply

More pedal pressure = more air pressure = stronger braking.

2. Distribute Air to Multiple Circuits

Most modern systems use a dual-circuit foot brake valve, which:

  • Separates the primary and secondary air systems

  • Provides redundancy for safety

  • Ensures braking still works if one circuit fails

3. Release Brakes Properly

When the pedal is released:

  • The valve exhausts air from the brake chambers

  • The brakes release smoothly

4. Maintain Safety in Air Brake Systems

The foot brake valve:

  • Prevents sudden air loss

  • Maintains balanced braking

  • Works with ABS and other safety systems

  • Helps prevent brake lock-up (with ABS support)

Signs of a Bad Foot Brake Valve 802911:

1. Air Leaking From the Valve

  • Hissing sound near the brake pedal

  • Air leaking when pedal is pressed or released

  • Continuous leak that doesn’t stop

This is one of the most common failure symptoms.

2. Slow Brake Response

  • Delay between pressing the pedal and brakes applying

  • Spongy or inconsistent pedal feel

This can indicate internal valve wear or sticking components.

3. Brakes Not Releasing Properly

  • Vehicle feels like brakes are dragging

  • Brakes stay partially applied after releasing pedal

  • Overheating brake drums/rotors

The exhaust side of the valve may not be venting air correctly.

4. Uneven Braking

  • Vehicle pulls to one side

  • Inconsistent brake pressure between circuits

Could indicate internal imbalance in a dual-circuit valve.

5. Low Air Pressure Warnings

  • Dash warning light or buzzer

  • Air pressure drops excessively when braking

A faulty valve may leak internally and drain air tanks.

6. Brake Pedal Feels Abnormal

  • Too hard

  • Too soft

  • Doesn’t return properly
