• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Braking:

  • When cruise control is active, the system keeps a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead by adjusting throttle, retarder, or applying the foundation brakes if needed.

• Collision Mitigation / Autonomous Braking:

  • If the radar detects a potential forward collision or rapid closing distance, the system can apply braking to reduce the severity of impact. 

• Alerting the Driver:

  • Provides alerts (visual and/or audible) when a vehicle or object is detected ahead or if the following distance becomes unsafe. 

• Stationary Object Detection:

  • Can warn the driver about stationary vehicles or objects in the driving path.

• Dashboard alerts such as:

  • “Wingman Advanced Fault”

  • “Radar Sensor Fault”

• The system may disable itself until the sensor is repaired or replaced.

2. Adaptive Cruise Control Malfunctions

• ACC may fail to maintain distance from vehicles ahead.

• The system might fail to engage or disengage unexpectedly.

3. Collision Mitigation / Braking Issues

• Forward collision alerts or automatic braking may not work.

• Braking may activate unexpectedly if the radar misreads objects.

4. False or Erratic Alerts

• Radar may detect objects that aren’t there.

• System may constantly beep or show visual warnings without reason.

5. Inconsistent Detection of Vehicles or Obstacles

• Vehicles ahead may not trigger alerts.

• Stationary objects (parked cars, barriers) may be ignored.

• Performance may vary with speed or weather conditions.

6. Physical Damage or Obstruction

• Sensor lens cracked, chipped, or covered in dirt, snow, or ice.

• Mounting misaligned after a collision or maintenance.

7. System Self-Test Failures

• On startup, Wingman Advanced performs a self-diagnostic.

• If the FLR‑21 fails, the system may refuse to operate or report an error.
