Purpose of using 4358994:

Purpose What It Does
1. Detect blockages or clogs If pressure is high on one side and low on the other, it signals a restriction (like a clogged filter).
2. Monitor filter health Used across air, fuel, oil, or exhaust filters to detect when they need cleaning or replacement.
3. Ensure proper flow Confirms air, fuel, or exhaust gases are flowing as expected through a system.
4. Control system behavior Sends data to an ECM or control unit that can trigger alarms, adjust valves, or initiate cleaning cycles.

Signs of a Bad Differential Pressure Sensor 4358994

Symptom What It Means
1. Check Engine Light (CEL) The ECM detects incorrect or missing pressure data.
2. Frequent or Failed DPF Regens The sensor sends wrong data, so the DPF never regenerates or regenerates too often.
3. DPF Full or Soot Load Warnings False readings make the ECM think the DPF is clogged when it's not.
4. Engine Derate / Limp Mode The truck limits power to protect the engine from perceived exhaust backpressure.
5. Poor Fuel Economy If regeneration is too frequent or airflow is disrupted, efficiency drops.
6. Rough Idle or Hesitation Exhaust flow or turbo function may be affected if the sensor is misreporting pressure.
7. Inaccurate DPF Pressure Readings in Diagnostic Tools Techs
