Description:
The CPC4 module — short for Common Powertrain Controller 4 — is an electronic control unit (ECU) used primarily in Freightliner and Western Star trucks, especially models equipped with Detroit Diesel engines. Common Powertrain Controller, CPC Module CPC4 Nafta

Purpose:

The CPC4 is essentially the main communication and control hub between the engine, transmission, and various vehicle systems. It handles:

  • Throttle input & engine control signals

  • Powertrain communications via CAN / J1939 network

  • Diagnostics and fault code processing

  • Data exchange between:

    • Engine ECU (MCM)

    • Transmission ECU (TCM)

    • Chassis & cab modules (VECU, ICU, etc.)
