1. Control EGR Flow Accurately

   • Measures pressure or differential pressure in the EGR system.

   • Sends data to the ECM/ECU, which adjusts the EGR valve to allow the correct amount of exhaust gas into the intake.

2. Reduce Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) Emissions

   • Reintroducing exhaust gas lowers combustion temperatures, which reduces NOx formation.

   • The sensor ensures the right amount of gas is recirculated, preventing over- or under-flow.

3. Protect Engine Performance and Efficiency

   • Prevents too much exhaust gas, which can cause poor combustion, rough idle, or stalling.

   • Prevents too little exhaust gas, which would increase NOx emissions.
