Description:
An ABS Module (Anti-lock Braking System Module) 25926937 is the electronic control unit that manages the ABS system in a vehicle. It works together with wheel speed sensors and the ABS hydraulic unit to prevent wheel lock-up during braking.

Part Number: 25926937
Condition: Remanufactured
Manufacture/Brand: GM

Fits 25926937
For

Year Make Model Engine Important vehicle option details
2010 Chevrolet Equinox 4 Cyl 2.4L, 6 Cyl 3.0L LS SUV, LT SUV, LTZ SUV
2010 GMC Terrain 4 Cyl 2.4L, 6 Cyl 3.0L SLE1 SUV, SLE2 SUV, SLT SUV

Purpose of using 25926937

1. Monitors Wheel Speed

Receives signals from wheel speed sensors to detect when a wheel is about to lock up.

2. Controls Brake Pressure

Sends commands to the ABS hydraulic pump and valves to rapidly:

  • Increase

  • Hold

  • Release
    brake pressure to prevent skidding.

3. Improves Steering Control During Braking

By preventing wheel lock-up, it allows the driver to steer while braking hard.

4. Enhances Stability and Safety

Works with other systems such as:

  • Traction Control

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Brake Assist

5. Stores Diagnostic Trouble Codes

If the ABS system fails, the module:

  • Turns on the ABS warning light

  • Stores fault codes for technicians

Signs of a Bad ABS Module 25926937

1. ABS Warning Light or Brake Light Turns On

  • The ABS light, Brake light, or both may illuminate

  • Often the first and most obvious symptom

  • The module stores fault codes that point to ABS system issues

2. Anti-Lock Brakes Stop Working

  • ABS will be disabled, and the vehicle may revert to normal braking

  • During hard braking, wheels may lock up, causing skidding

3. Traction Control or Stability Control Light Comes On

  • Since ABS, Traction Control, and ESC share sensors and circuits, module failure can trigger:

    • TCS light

    • ESC/ESP light

4. Brake Pedal Feels Unusual

  • Pedal may feel:

    • Harder than normal

    • Softer/spongy

    • Pulsate at the wrong times

5. Speedometer Malfunctions (on certain vehicles)

  • Some ABS modules share signals with the speedometer

  • Speed reading may be wrong or drop to zero intermittently

6. ABS Pump Running Constantly

  • A damaged module may send incorrect commands causing the pump to:

    • Run continuously

    • Run even when the car is off
      This can drain the battery.

7. Poor Braking Performance

  • Increased stopping distance on slippery roads

  • Vehicle may skid or slide during emergency braking

8. Intermittent Braking Issues

  • ABS may activate randomly when it shouldn’t

  • Or fail to activate when it should
