Purpose of using 22902634:

1. Deliver DEF to the SCR system

  • The module pumps DEF from the tank to the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) injector in the exhaust.

  • Without the pump, DEF cannot reach the SCR system, and the emissions control process cannot occur.

2. Reduce harmful emissions

  • DEF reacts with nitrogen oxides (NOx) in the SCR system to produce harmless nitrogen and water vapor.

  • The pump ensures the right amount of DEF is delivered at the right time, which is essential for emissions reduction.

3. Maintain correct pressure and flow

  • The module regulates fluid pressure and flow rate so the SCR system works efficiently and prevents over- or under-injection.

4. Monitor the DEF system

  • Many DEF supply pump modules have sensors that measure:

    • Fluid level

    • Temperature

    • Flow/pressure

  • These signals are sent to the engine control module (ECU) to alert the driver of issues or to adjust DEF dosing automatically.

5. Support emissions compliance

  • Modern diesel engines must comply with strict emissions standards, such as United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.

  • The supply pump module is essential to keep the SCR system operating correctly and avoid emissions violations.

Signs of Bad DEF Supply Pump Module 22902634
:

1. DEF or SCR warning lights

  • Dashboard may show DEF System Fault,” “Check SCR System,” or low DEF warnings”, even if the tank is full.

  • Sometimes the check engine light also comes on.

2. Reduced engine power (derate)

  • Vehicles often limit engine power or speed when the SCR system detects a DEF delivery problem.

  • This is a protective measure to prevent excessive emissions.

3. Engine or DEF fault codes

  • Scan tools may show codes like:

    • P20EE / P20EFDEF pump performance or flow issue

    • P208EDEF delivery fault

4. DEF not being consumed

  • If you refill the tank but the DEF gauge doesn’t change or fluid doesn’t seem to move, the pump may not be working.

5. Strange noises from the pump

  • A failing pump can make grinding, buzzing, or whirring noises, indicating mechanical failure.

6. DEF freezing issues

  • Some modules have heating elements. If these fail, DEF may freeze in cold temperatures, causing system errors.
