Locked wheels = skidding = loss of control.

Because the wheels keep rotating, the driver can still:

• Steer

• Avoid obstacles

• Stay in lane

This is the biggest safety advantage of ABS.

3. Improve Vehicle Stability

By preventing skids, the ABS system helps keep the vehicle stable on:

• Wet roads

• Snow

• Ice

• Loose gravel

4. Reduce Stopping Distance (in most conditions)

By maximizing tire traction, ABS can shorten the distance required to stop safely.

5. Support Other Safety Systems

The ABS control assembly works together with:

• Traction control (TCS)

• Electronic stability control (ESC)

• Hill start assist

These systems rely on ABS sensors and hydraulic control to function.

6. Provide Electronic Brake Control

The unit manages brake pressure electronically instead of relying solely on mechanical braking force.

The most common sign.
The ABS module detects a fault and disables the system.

2. Traction Control or Stability Control Lights On

Since ABS works with TCS and ESC, a bad ABS assembly can trigger:
