Fits 8844901132 For

Freightliner, Volvo (trucks), Mack, Hino, Kenworth, Peterbilt, International/Navistar

Purpose of using 8844901132:

1. Driver applies brakes

  • You press the brake pedal

  • Brake pressure (hydraulic or air in trucks) is sent toward the wheels

2. System monitors wheel speed

  • Sensors at each wheel send data to the ECU

  • The ECU checks for rapid deceleration or imbalance

3. Detects potential wheel lock

  • If a wheel is about to stop spinning too fast → risk of skid

  • ECU recognizes unsafe slip using anti-lock braking system logic

4. ECU makes instant decision

  • Calculates how much pressure that specific wheel should have

  • Sends commands to the modulator

5. Modulator adjusts brake pressure

This is the core purpose:

  • Hold pressure (pause increase)

  • Release pressure (prevent lockup)

  • Reapply pressure (restore braking force)

6. Rapid cycling

  • This adjustment happens many times per second

  • Keeps wheels in the ideal grip zone using slip ratio

7. Vehicle stays controlled

  • Wheels keep rotating

  • You can still steer

  • Vehicle remains stable

8. Safe and efficient stop

  • Maximum braking without skidding

  • Reduced risk of:

    • Loss of control

    • Jackknife (in trucks)

    • Sliding on wet/icy roads

Signs of Bad Hydraulic ABS Modulator ECU 8844901132:

1. ABS warning light comes on

  • First and most common sign

  • The system detects a fault and disables the anti-lock braking system

  • Brakes still work, but without ABS protection

2. Stored fault codes (diagnostics)

  • Scan tool shows ABS-related codes

  • Common issues:

    • Valve malfunction

    • Internal ECU fault

    • Communication errors

3. Loss of ABS function

  • During hard braking:

    • No pulsing pedal

    • Wheels may start to lock

  • System is no longer actively controlling pressure

4. Uneven or inconsistent braking

Vehicle may:

    • Pull to one side

    • Brake harder on one wheel/axle

  • Caused by valves not opening/closing correctly

5. Abnormal brake pedal feel

  • Pedal may feel:

    • Too hard

    • Too soft/spongy

    • Pulsing when it shouldn’t

6. Clicking or buzzing noises

  • Faulty solenoids inside the modulator may:

    • Stick

    • Cycle incorrectly

  • You may hear unusual noises even when not braking hard

7. Traction/stability control issues

(especially in trucks)

  • Systems tied to ABS stop working:

    • Traction control

    • Stability assist

  • Warning lights may stack up

8. Wheels locking under braking

  • Major failure symptom

  • Especially noticeable on:

    • Wet roads

    • Emergency stops

  • Indicates the system isn’t regulating pressure at all

9. Brake dragging or not releasing (serious)

  • A stuck valve can:

    • Keep pressure applied to a wheel

  • Leads to:

    • Overheating brakes

    • Reduced fuel efficiency

    • Potential brake damage

10. Complete modulator/ECU failure

  • No communication with the unit

  • ABS system fully disabled

  • Possible impact on overall braking performance (in heavy trucks)
