1. Verify the key fob and allow the vehicle to start

The WIN module checks if the key fob is valid and authorized.
If the correct key is detected → the engine can start.
If not → the vehicle stays immobilized.

2. Replace the traditional ignition switch

Instead of a mechanical key cylinder, the WIN module electronically controls:

• Start/Stop button

• Key-turn ignition slots (in some models)

3. Enhance vehicle security

The module works with the anti-theft/immobilizer system to:

• Prevent unauthorized starting

• Stop hot-wiring

• Prevent cloning of key signals

4. Manage wireless communication

Communicates with:

• Key fob

• Body Control Module (BCM)

• Engine Control Module (ECM)

• Security system

5. Enable convenience features

It allows modern comfort features such as:

• Keyless entry

• Remote start

• Push-to-start ignition

• Automatic door-lock/unlock based on fob proximity

1. Vehicle won’t start

• The engine doesn’t crank or respond when you press the Start button or turn the key fob.

• Often accompanied by “Key Not Detected” messages.

2. Key fob not recognized

• The vehicle randomly fails to detect the key fob even when it’s close.

• May require multiple attempts to start.

3. Intermittent or delayed starting

• The vehicle starts sometimes but not others.

• Long delays before the ignition engages.

4. Accessories don’t power on

• Radio, dash lights, or HVAC may not turn on when switching to ACC/ON mode.

5. Stuck in one ignition mode

• The vehicle may get stuck in accessory mode or run mode and won’t shut off properly.

7. Remote start not working
