Purpose of using 22258878 :

 
  • DPF collects soot from the exhaust.
  • When the DPF needs cleaning, the system activates the atomization module.
  • The module controls the fuel and air used to create a fine fuel mist.
  • That fuel mist is burned in the exhaust system, creating high exhaust temperatures.
  • The heat burns the accumulated soot out of the DPF.
  • The DPF is then ready to continue filtering exhaust.


Signs of Bad Atomization Module  22258878 :

 
  • DPF regeneration won't start or won't complete
  • “Regeneration required” or DPF warning light
  • Check Engine / fault codes related to the aftertreatment or atomization system
  • Repeated failed parked regenerations
  • Low engine power or derate
  • Poor throttle response, especially when the truck is heavily loaded
  • Exhaust temperature doesn't rise enough during regeneration
  • DPF becomes increasingly restricted because soot isn't being burned off
