Description:
A temperature sensor is a device that measures temperature and sends that information to a computer or control system—such as a car’s engine control unit (ECU) or aftertreatment control module. Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor For EPA17 6.7L ISB/QSB, Work condition, used take-off Kenworth T880 2024

Purpose:

Most use thermistors or thermocouples that change electrical resistance or voltage as temperature changes.
The ECU reads this change and interprets it as a temperature value.

Based on that, the system might:

Adjust fuel injection
Activate cooling fans
Limit engine power (to prevent damage)
Trigger warning lights or derate modes

Signs of a Bad Temperature Sensor:

Engine runs hot or cold unexpectedly

Check Engine Light or emissions faults
Fan runs constantly or not at all
Engine enters limp mode
